Editor’s Note: This is a guest post written by Sporcle user, curator for Asia and Flags. He hops on the blog to offer some guidance on how to earn one of Sporcle’s toughest badges. Learn the Flags of the World A guide to the Vexing Vexillology badge on Sporcle The badge requires Sporclers to get 100% on the Flags of the World quiz. As such, it is one of the more difficult quiz-specific badges to earn. Here are a few quick tips for those badge hunters that haven’t been able to earn it yet (and also those that have, but are a bit rusty on their flag-based knowledge). First things first: Structurally speaking, the quiz is pretty much just the quiz, but with a forced order. As such, it’s vital that you can comfortably score 100% on the Countries of the World quiz first. At the time of writing, 20 countries have been guessed 50% or less of the time on the Countries of the World quiz. Of those, only 5 have been guessed more than 50% of the time in the Flags of the World quiz. That’s a strong enough correlation to suspect that a reason some people aren’t getting 100% on the Flags of the World quiz is because there are country names they’ve forgotten. It’s also important, but not strictly necessary, to know which continents each country belongs to. This is because countries with similar backgrounds tend to have flags with similar motifs. For example: • Some African countries use a color scheme of red, green and either gold or black. • Arab countries tend to use red, white, black, and green. • Several Slavic countries use horizontal stripes of white, red and blue. • All the countries that currently have a Union Jack in the corner are in Oceania. • Two blue stripes are a common feature in most Central American countries. • All of the Nordic countries use a similar cross design. There are exceptions. These aren’t strict rules, so it’s important to be wary of exceptions. For example, Bolivia, Lithuania and Myanmar all use red, gold and green stripes despite not being in Africa. Another example is the Netherlands, which definitely isn’t Slavic despite sharing flag similarities. For a more complete rundown of similar looking flags to look out for, regardless of region, I’ve found this quiz to be very thorough and definitely worth studying:. Once you know which countries are located on which continents, it can be useful to try and learn which flags are on which continent (The playlist is ). When doing those quizzes, keep an eye out for which flags give you the most trouble. That way, when you’re stuck on a particular question in the World quiz, you could try to recall on which continent’s quiz you saw that flag in. Other Resources: Outside of Sporcle, the best way of memorizing the flags of the world is to spend time somewhere that uses flags and let the information build up over time. There are forums out there that use flags as geolocator icons, and it’s always fun to keep an eye out for flags that you’ve never seen before to try and remember them next time. 196 countries. The ultimate challenge for geography champions. Shop for world flags on Etsy, the place to express your creativity through the buying and selling of handmade and vintage goods. The biggest database of flags on the web. Usa, China, India, Canada, Europe. All the most beautiful flags of the world are here! List of all national flags with country information. Download free vector files, icons, wallpapers and emoji of all country flags. Personally, I’ve found pretty useful, plus I’ve had the pleasure of talking to people from the places you don’t normally find internet users in. There are also websites like where you’re given two random flags and you choose which flag looks better. Since the flags are random, it’s more likely for someone to bump into a flag they don’t know of. If you still need more help, there are plenty of people in the Sporcle community who understand how you feel and are more than willing to help out. If there are specific things you’re getting stuck on, simply make a post in the group on Sporcle and people will come along ASAP. Now go out and earn that badge!

This is a direct continuation of that story. 57 years after the events of the first film, Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) is found and awakened from hyper sleep to discover that a terraforming colony has been set up on LV-426, the planet wherein she and her fellow crew of the mining cargo spaceship Nostromo first encountered the titular aliens. When Earth-based communications loses contact with LV-426, a band of marines are sent to investigate, taking Ripley and a representative from the company that financed the colony, Carter Burke (Paul Reiser) along for the ride. For the difficult job of following up Ridley Scott's excellent Alien, director James Cameron decided to go a completely different route--to make a fast moving, slightly tongue-in-cheek, boisterous action extravaganza. Remarkably, he was able to do that while still maintaining a stylistic and literary continuity that melds Aliens seamlessly with the first film. Ripley is much more fully developed in this film, although unfortunately, some of the most significant scenes were deleted from the theatrical release (if at all possible, watch the 2-hour and 37-minute director's cut instead). Cameron fashioned Aliens into a grand arc where Ripley's actions at the end of the film have much more meaning as she's not only fighting monsters, but also fighting to retain a semblance of something she lost due to her 57-year hyper sleep. As in the first film, she is still the most intelligent, courageous and resourceful member of the crew, but she has much more colorful company. The marines accompanying Ripley back to LV-426 may be too cartoonish for some tastes (as for viewers of that opinion, most of the action and the film overall is likely to be too cartoonish), but for anyone more agreeable to that kind of caricatured exaggeration, it's a joy to watch. I'm a big fan of both Bill Paxton and Lance Henriksen, and both turn in wonderfully over-the-top performances, at their diametrically opposed ends of the emotional spectrum--Paxton as the spastic surfer/redneck and Henriksen as the intense, moody sage, with a surprising reality and an even more surprising conscience to go along with it. We also get a cigar-chomping Sergeant, a crazy, butch Private, and a complex, pensive Corporal as main characters, and a mysterious, bright young girl (played in a terrific performance by Carrie Henn). Much of the center section of the film hinges on the interrelationships of these characters, despite the action trappings going on around them. Cameron carries over the crypt/labyrinth motif of the first film, and adds a metaphorical descent into the bowels of hell in the climax. The action throughout is suspenseful. Aliens contains one of my favorite 'cat fights' in any film. It's also worth noting the influence this film may have had on Paul Verhoeven's Starship Troopers (1997)--although admittedly, we could say that Cameron was influenced a bit by the Robert A. Heinlein book, as well. Throughout all of the varied action sequences, as well as the important early scenes of colonists on LV-426, Cameron is able to clearly convey the logistics of very complex sets, so that viewers remain on the edges of their seats. Part of what makes the monsters so effective is that we're not told too much about them. We only get glimpses into their physiology's, their behavioral patterns and their intelligence. Cameron gives us just enough to become wrapped up in the film, but not so much that we become overly familiar with the aliens, or start to question the logic behind the film. He also smartly carries over some devices from the first film that were abandoned to an extent, such as the acidic blood of the aliens, and he supplies answers to the few questions that the first film raised, such as why the blood doesn't corrode instruments and objects when a dead alien is examined. Aliens: o Resgate - Trailer legendado Watch the talkshows, ary news, city42, capital talk, express news-channelshub, channels hub. Aliens is yet another example of a sequel that is just as good as an original film in a series. Just make sure you watch both in order, and try to watch the director's cuts. I am just going to add my voice to the chorus of praise for this movie. It is as near to being perfect as any I have ever seen. I will not say that it is much better than Alien - which is just about near to being perfect also. But I do love all the characters in this movie. I have rarely seen a movie where all the characters were so well developed. Even most serious dramas seldom develops each character so completely. None of these characters are stereotypes even Paul Reiser as Burke, although the slimy company/government man villain is a prerequisite in disaster type movies. I would almost say that my favorite is Michael Beihn as Hicks, just because I like his work & consider him to be underrated. But I also like Lance Henriksen as Bishop, William Hope as Lt. Gorman, Bill Paxton as Hudson, and of course, Jenette Goldstein as Vasquez. I liked all of these characters. I cared about their lives & deaths. The final scene for Gorman & Vasquez still chokes me up after seeing it many times. I am not ignoring Sigourney Weaver or Carrie Henn. Ripley is the template for the modern action heroine. In the 24 years since Alien, few have been able to measure up to Sigourney Weaver's Ripley. Even in Alien 3 & 4, Ripley was still powerful, despite the 3ed rate quality of the movies. As for Carrie Henn as Newt, she was the emotional heart of Aliens. Cameron's ability to develop well rounded characters does not detract from his ability to create great action scenes or to scare the audience out of a several years of growth. THE sci-fi movie. It's nearly perfect in every way: storyline, characters, menacing threat, suspense, action, direction, music, emotion, etc. It's always been a favorite of mine and still is. To me this is not just a film, it is an experience. The adrenaline pumps like in no other film and rarely have we had the chance to see a heroine as compelling as Sigourney Weaver. She can kick anyone's ass and still keep a heart and soul. (Why she didn't win the Oscar back in 1986 is beyond me.) When the action starts, you're in for the ride of your life. Truly a milestone in movie making. Now if they could only release it on DVD. I rate Aliens a perfect 10. This second installment in the Alien series evolves the original movie's horror/sci-fi genre into action-adventure/sci-fi, setting a standard which has not yet been matched. I like this movie because it paints a picture of the future which is realistic enough to suck you in during the beginning of the film and then quickly introduces you to interesting characters who you become concerned with; some you love and others you hate.but none of them bore you. By the time the action starts it's possible to forget you're watching a movie (at least the first couple of times). The plot is filled with tension that is occasionally broken by some of the most memorable one-liners in history (especially by Private Hudson). The special effects are remarkable, considering the fact that they were accomplished the 'old fashioned way' prior to digital manipulation. I can report that I now own the Director's Cut and rate this version a 10 also. The extra footage will be extremely interesting to fans of the 1986 release. Either version gives you great characters, suspense, action, firepower, sarcasm, and wit. Aliens is an outstanding show! ALIENS really does have it all. Perfect direction. Beautiful cinematography. Intense characters. It is certainly the BEST sequel ever made in movie history, and one of the GREATEST MOVIES EVER MADE. At its core is Lt. Ellen Ripley (played by the badass Sigourney Weaver), a warrant officer, and tough as nails. Her character is one of the greatest heroines of all time. Sigourney really does pull it off. No one else could have done it like her. Ripley's maternal connection with the young girl Newt is amazing to watch.but the ultimate scene is her final battle with the galaxy's most deadly creature - set to a pulsing military score (James Horner delivers in a big way!). Quite possibly my favorite fight scene of all time. There's not really much else to say - just go watch the movie on DVD, and you will not be let down. You're in for a wild ride!!! ALIENS: THIS TIME, IT'S WAR. 'All Of Me' is a song by American recording artist John Legend from his fourth studio album Love in the Future (2013). Legend co-wrote the song with Toby Gad and co-produced it with Dave Tozer. The song was described as an R&B ballad and 'tender piano ballad'. ' All Of Me' was the first Hot 100 No. 1 single of Legend's career. It also reached No. 1 in other countries such as Australia, Belgium, Canada, Ireland, The Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden and Switzerland. May 8-10 Herb Hardesty sounds genuine, not deliberately tactful, when he declines to voice a preference for either the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage festival, which he played last weekend, or the Ponderosa Stomp, where he’s playing tonight. “I have a good time at both,” Fats Domino’s longtime sax man said, sitting behind a table where he’s quietly selling CDs. “It’s just nice to play for the people.” The Ponderosa Stomp, a five-year-old roots-music fest that celebrates “the unsung heroes of rock and soul,” has traditionally bridged Jazz Fest’s gap, taking place at New Orleans’ Mid-City Lanes Rock ’n’ Bowl on weekday nights between the two Jazz Fest weekends. Its booking also fills in the blanks left by the bigger fest, running the gamut from legendary sidemen like Hardesty to cult heroes like the late Link Wray to obscure Louisiana garage bands unearthed from the swamps by the Mystic Knights of the Mau Mau, the group behind the event. This year, the Stomp relocated temporarily to Memphis’ Gibson Guitar Factory Showcase in a move that took some expected flak; post-Katrina, some said, keeping large-scale events and the dollars they generate for the city should be paramount. But in September, when Ira “Dr. Ike” Padnos and his fellow (all-volunteer) Knights had to start making decisions, the city was in soggy chaos. The downstairs showroom at the Rock ’n’ Bowl, which held the Stomp’s second stage, was multiple feet deep in filthy water. So the Mau Maus looked north. As it turned out, the Stomp’s temporary new home afforded some opportunities New Orleans couldn’t before—during the day, music historians Peter Guralnick and Robert Gordon hosted sold-out tours of Sun Studios and the Stax Museum. And the musical through-line between Memphis and New Orleans is impossible to miss. For every old-school Excello and Minit artist on the roster, there was plenty of representation from Memphis’ Stax and Hi Records. In the genres the Stomp showcases—soul, R&B, rockabilly, blues and garage—the conversation between the Bluff City, the Crescent City and parts in between is deep and complex. And in the end, according to Dr. Ike, “the bands killed. And at the end of the day, we just want to see these heroes, these pioneers, working.” Proceeds from the charity event benefited MusiCares and the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic. If there was any pall cast over the show by events of the previous August, the Stomp’s barn-burning sets evaporated it like fog over the Mississippi in the morning sun. Texas’ Roy Head writhed on the floor during his hit “Treat Her Right.” Lady Bo—Bo Diddley’s right-hand guitar woman from the late ’50s/early ’60s—tore through a fierce set on the second night, scolding the crowd between songs: “Why aren’t you clapping? Get involved!” Pompadoured B-movie star Arch Hall, Jr., showed up, Excello bluesman Lazy Lester and Japanese garage-blues artist Rockin’ Enocky played surprise sets, and former drummer D.J. Fontana kept the beat for 75-year-old soul singer Sonny Burgess. The Stomp will return to New Orleans in May 2007, but this detour to Memphis was no disappointment. Seoul City Stomp. British Sea Power is a six-piece band currently based in South East England and on the Isle Of Skye in Scotland.:::::: BSP have been acknowledged by the great institutions: David Bowie, the National Maritime Museum, Jarvis Cocker and the British Horseracing Authority. They are a band that plays forests and giant rock halls as specially requested guests of The Flaming Lips, The Strokes and Pulp. But they’re also a band that put on their album parties in remote Sussex pubs where their own special guests are The Copper Family, a clan of Sussex folk singers who’ve been going for 200 years. British Sea Power truly is a band like no other. If BSP is a band where dreams become real, this effect is unlikely to dim with their new album. Valhalla Dancehall is a record that moves from concise electronic pop to nine-minute solemnity to swaggering thug-glam. Lyrical subject matter includes local libraries, indigenous societies, the Dame Vera Lynn Celebrity Clay Pigeon Shoot and the party to which everyone is invited. Valhalla Dancehall is a record that suggests BSP’s cupboard remains full of medieval armored gloves. Again a gauntlet is thrown down. British Sea Power formed in 2000 and put out their first release in 2001 – the “Fear Of Drowning” single on their own Golden Chariot label, but it was the band’s live performances that defined their first years. When BSP played the 2002 Reading Festival, Rolling Stone implied that the entirety of the weekend’s line-up paled before them: “Fuck this puerile drivel, we’re going to see British Sea Power British Sea Power rule!” Since then the band has played a collection of unforgettable shows in remarkable surroundings. The group released their debut album, The Decline Of British Sea Power in 2003, which Entertainment Weekly gave an “A” rating, stating “We have seen the past of rock & roll, and its name is BRITISH SEA POWER. And this, we can't emphasize enough, is a good thing.” BSP followed that up with the release of Open Season in 2005, of which Pitchfork noted, “By maintaining their singular aesthetic while venturing into more inviting pop sounds, the weirdest band from Brighton just might have become the smartest.” 2008 marked the release of British Sea Power’s third album, Do You Like Rock Music? Which was recorded in the Czech Republic, Canada and at Fort Tregantle – a 19th Century redoubt up on the Cornish cliffs. The album was nominated for the Mercury Prize and again the press shouted the record’s virtues from the rooftops. The Onion gave it an A- rating and proclaimed “it's definitely BSP's most rocking effort yet.” After a few changes in line-up, the reconfigured band convened in 2009 to record the Man Of Aran soundtrack, a new largely instrumental score for Robert Flaherty’s fascinating 1934 film of the same name. Now we arrive at BSP’s fourth studio album, Valhalla Dancehall. The title hints at some wild internationalist daydream – a mix of severe Norse mythos and jam-happy Jamaican discos. The album has a glorious scope, moving from the windswept nine-minute meditation of “Once More Now” to the neat electronic pop of “Living Is So Easy.” The album was recorded during Britain’s coldest winter in 30 years; there was snow and black ice and the fuel oil ran out at the band’s farmhouse studio. While the album displays substantial compositional ambition and lyrics that move from “interstellar clouds on the Sussex Downs” in “Baby” to mentions of visible panty lines “Living Is So Easy”, Valhalla Dancehall is also often a very direct album. The band like to imagine there are hints of Kraftwerk, Abba, Winfred Atwell and Slade, all lined up beside an all-new Norse/Kingston pantheon and a mood of sweet, intoxicating sparkling wine. British Sea Power’s current line-up is: Yan Scott Wilkinson (vocals/guitar), Neil Hamilton Wilkinson (vocals/bass/guitar), Martin Noble (guitar/keyboards), Matthew Wood (drums), Abi Fry (viola/keyboards), Phil Sumner (keyboards/cornet/guitar). There are more weapons available than in any other game I've played, the variety is massive even within each category and the weapon effects are suitably satisfying. Blowing apart aliens with rocket and grenade launchers, miniguns and energy weapons proved to be stupendously satisfying, and I felt I got more value for my ten dollars than for games that cost five times as much. This game is FUN, FUN, FUN, offers multiplayer support as well as the campaign and Survival modes so there is a ton of replay value here. The story is nothing special, you are a mercenary hired to investigate the goings-on at a facility run by a massive corporation; who they are and what they're doing is shrouded in secrecy and you don't really know what you're walking into until you're face to face with hordes of aliens that want to tear you apart. Luckily, you have your huge arsenal of weapons with which to return the favour, and doing so is nothing short of awesome. Bloody, chunky bits litter the levels once you're done tearing the alien horde a new one, which left me feeling rather satisfied with my handiwork. Levels are separated by relative calm back at your main base of oeprations, which can be used to resupply. New weapons are available after every level, with increasingly potent hardware appearing as you progress. The who, how and what of the back story are slowly revealed throughout the game, and while not the best story ever, it provides a decent context for what you're doing. The RPG elements also add something to the game, with various stats available for boosting which in turn leads to you being a more effective soldier. Boost your intelligence to support better implants which give you stat boosts, up your accuracy to make better use of your ammunition, increase your Minigun and Submachine gun score to equip more powerful guns etc. There is even a perk to be selected at the start of each new game which assists the player in various ways, from making them more observant to a faster learner to a hitpoint vampire etc. At first glance, it is easy to dismiss Alien Shooter: Vengeance as a brainless, stupid shooter, but if you're prepared to look, there is some depth here that adds to the gameplay and replay values. Once you're done with the Campaign, try Survival, a mode which pits you against waves of aliens and which challenges you to survive as long as possible. If that gets a bit much, you can even play the SP campaign co-operatively with a mate, which is as much fun if not more so than playing it alone. Alien Shooter:Vengeance has a LOT to offer gamers that like to blow stuff up and tear aliens to shreds with high-powered weaponry, and is worth far more than the ten dollars you'll pay for it, at least in my opinion. For me, this is one of the most underrated games I've ever played, and if you're looking for something fun, igore the overall mediocre scores the game appears to be getting, and indulge yourself; there's a damn good chance you won't be disappointed and you might even have fun along the way. This gets too repetitive too fast. Guns like an MP5 become useless in a heartbeat by guns that do triple damage with more accuracy very This gets too repetitive too fast. Guns like an MP5 become useless in a heartbeat by guns that do triple damage with more accuracy very quick. All the gun classes just jump up extremely in power wildly, with the best doing 20x the damage with the same ammo. Everything else is mediocre save for gameplay, which becomes a chore just to see the crap ending. Even at the $10 price this game won't be worth it unless you need a quick fix for a game right away, the fun lasts only a few minutes at a time at the longest.
